The spreadsheet said 10.4.12.0/24 had plenty of room. Nobody had touched it in four months, and in that time a VoIP rollout had quietly claimed thirty of those addresses. The new monitoring server went in anyway, and for two days phones dropped calls intermittently while the team hunted for a network problem, because a duplicate IP address does not announce itself; it just makes two devices take turns failing.
That is spreadsheet IPAM. The document is out of date the moment it is saved, it cannot check itself for conflicts, and IPv6 stretches it past the breaking point. IP address management deserves a tool that holds a live model of your address space and refuses to let two things occupy the same address. That is what ResorsIT provides, in every tier of DNS/IP Management including the free trial.
IP Address Management in ResorsIT
A Visual Model of Your Address Space
ResorsIT presents your network as a hierarchical subnet tree, so you can see how your address space is organized and where the room is. Split, promote, and merge subnets with a click; a pre-loaded RFC 1918/6598 template with more than 200 subnets and 21 reserved vendor defaults gives you a sane starting point instead of a blank page. VLAN assignments (1-4094) are tracked alongside each subnet, and subnets carry a status of active, reserved, or deprecated, so the plan distinguishes what is actually configured on routers from what is merely intended.
Conflicts Are Caught Before They Happen
When you create a subnet, ResorsIT validates it against your entire network for overlaps and correct hierarchy. When you assign an address, conflict detection checks it on the spot, with DHCP ranges tracked so static assignments stay out of dynamic territory. The duplicate-address outage stops being something you diagnose and becomes something the tool rejects.
IPv6 Planned Properly
IPv6 is where spreadsheets give up, and where ResorsIT does its most serious work. A five-level hierarchy tracks allocations from the RIR through Region, Site, and Building down to individual Segments, with automatic prefix calculation and boundary enforcement at every level. Sparse allocation algorithms (2x, 4x, 8x, and 16x) leave deliberate room to grow without renumbering. And when you need private IPv6 space, ResorsIT generates RFC 4193-compliant Unique Local Addresses with properly randomized Global IDs, so a future merger does not collide two networks that both picked fd00:0000:0001.
DNS and IPAM in One Tool
Your IP plan and your DNS records live in the same product, managed by the same team. ResorsIT auto-generates reverse DNS PTR records from subnet assignments for both IPv4 and IPv6, creates A and AAAA records for every address in a subnet in one operation, and can produce hosts files as a DNS fallback. IP changes land in the same audit log as DNS changes, with the same accountability.
Documentation on Demand
Network Space reports produce professional PDF and HTML documentation of your addressing directly from the live data, so the network map you hand an auditor or a new hire is generated, not reconstructed. YAML import and export treats your network configuration as code, and archive and restore provides full backups with integrity verification. There is also a REST API.
Multiple Networks, Cleanly Separated
Network Spaces are fully isolated routing domains, each with its own independent RFC 1918 and ULA space. An MSP can manage every client’s addressing without any risk of bleed-over, and a merger or acquisition can be modelled side by side before anything is renumbered.
How It’s Different
-
No per-IP or per-subnet pricing. Every plan includes unlimited subnets and IP assignments. Whether you track 100 addresses or 100,000, the price is the same.
-
No migration project required. Start with the subnets that matter most and expand coverage at your own pace. There is no “import everything first” requirement.
-
IPAM is included, not sold separately. IP address management comes with every ResorsIT DNS/IP Management plan, alongside DNS change management and domain health checks.
Product Options
IP Address Management is included in every tier of the ResorsIT SaaS offering, from the free trial up. The ResorsIT Platform, nearing release with general availability expected in Q3 2026, includes the same IPAM and adds full Git-based version control of your configuration, so an address plan can be rolled back to any point in its history. The Platform includes DNS/IP Management at no additional cost.
